Far North
Inverness to John O'Groats - only just over 100 miles to go.
On much of this stage I am stuck with following the A9 to make any reasonable progress. Not a lot of choice really - it will have to include quite a bit of on road walking.
Philippa joins me at Helmsdale for the last three days so I will have someone to celebrate with when I drink the pint Mark Garner has already paid for!
| Date | Destination | Miles | Notes |
| 04/06/04 | Alness | 25 | Via North Kessok, Conon Bridge, Dingwall, and Evanton. After Kessok bridge when leaving Inverness, this should be mainly a mixture of tracks and minor roads |
| 05/06/04 | Dornoch | 20 | Going via Tain and across the Dornoch Firth, apart from the bit crossing the Dornoch Firth Bridge this should once again be on fairly quiet roads and tracks. |
| 06/06/04 | Brora | 18 | Through Embi and Golespie, following the coast to start with and then then tracking the A9 to Brora - although hopefully being able to avoid too much walking on the main road. |
| 07/06/04 | Helmsdale | 11 | Just follow the coast, through Lothbeg which is mainly up by the side of the A9. |
| 08/06/04 | Dunbeath | 16 | Through Berriedale, again following the A9 - Joined by PMW |
| 09/06/04 | Watton | 21 | Follows the A9 to Lybster and then turns inland taking small road directly north to Watten - Joined by PMW |
| 10/06/04 | John O'Groats | 19 | The final stage follows minor roads to Canisbay and then John O'Groats - Joined by PMW. |
